Progress is already underway on at least half of the projects in a 20-year visionary plan for Bluff Motupōhue.
Great South has facilitated the Bluff Motupōhue 2020 Tourism Master Plan, which is a joint initiative between Great South, Invercargill City Council (including Bluff Community Board) and Te Rūnaka o Awarua.
An implementation plan completed by Great South, that includes progress on the 24 concepts and projects to date, is due to be put before the Bluff Community Board this month.
Projects include the now complete cycle trail between Invercargill and Bluff, building on the Predator Free Bluff project, commercial developments and a large pouwhenua atop Motupōhue Bluff Hill.
The importance of a coordinated plan for Bluff was identified in the Southland Murihiku Destination Strategy.
