More than 35 employers have signed up to meet with job seekers at the Southland Jobs Expo in Invercargill on Tuesday 5 September 2023, hosted by Great South and the Ministry of Social Development (MSD).
“Whether job seekers are looking for a first job out of school or study, or a career change, the expo is a great opportunity to explore the many work and training opportunities available to them within our region,” says Renata Gill, Southland Youth Futures Team Manager at Great South.
“If you’re looking for work come along,” says Emma Hamilton, Labour Market Manager at MSD.
“We’re excited to have a wide range of employers attending. They include NZ Aluminium Smelter, Farmers, Te Whatu Ora, Alliance, Ballance AgriNutrients, Invercargill City Council, Corrections, Niagara Sawmilling, and orchards from Central Otago looking to recruit for their upcoming seasons,” says Emma.
The Expo is open to the public from 2pm – 5pm.
There will be plenty of chances for people looking for work or training opportunities to talk with training providers and local employers and recruitment agencies keen to meet prospective new employees.
Support organisations and training providers such as SIT/Te Pukenga, Otago College of Education and BCITO would also be on hand to provide advice, support, or information to jobseekers or those seeking career direction.
In addition to exhibitors, there will be a “MEGA-job-board” showcasing the latest jobs from Seek, Trade Me and other online sources.
Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to learn about the Southland labour market – the expo will be held at Hansen Hall, Southern Institute of Technology | Te Pukenga, 133 Tay Street Invercargill (entry off Ythan Street), 2-5pm, Tuesday 5 September.
